"When I first spied Nana, it was love at first site. Several dogs had just been rescued from a shelter. It was cold. She was put in a car for warmth. I couldn't get her out of my mind. All I could think was all these volunteers and no dog sweaters. I went to my car and asked Woody for his jacket. He offered up his orange Tube sweater but kept his flag sweater for himself. Nana fought the sweater but eventually we had it on. The sweater was not warm enough. I slipped her into my jacket. From there she crawled into my heart. I knew that Woody and I were destined to take care of her. On the first night, Woody shared his bed, he shared his food, and he shared his heart. He tried to groom Nana, she wouldn't have it. He tried to snuggle with Nana, she wouldn't have it. He tried to play with Nana, but she was too weak. He settled for loving her from afar and protecting her from the dark shadows that danced on the wall. You can see how things have changed. Woody continues to babysit Nana day and night - calming her fears and allowing her to enjoy her sleep."
